This month's edition of The Ambient Archives is one extended piece pf deeply ambient music, split into four parts. It is the companion to my next public album, Ambient Formations - bingsatellites.bandcamp.com/album/ambient-formations

It is the sound of the sea crashing against the rocks and dark clouds rolling across a big sky.

Sessions for both of these albums took part in October and November 2023 at MCos, my home studio.

I wanted to continue to explore sound and texture over anything solely musical. These recordings were inspired, in part, by my annual visits to the North Somerset coast with my friend and collaborator Daniel Land. I play keyboards in his band. Check his music out at danielland.bandcamp.com

Being by the sea as it crashes at high tide and in quiet, empty and beautiful countryside is a much needed respite from the constant hustle and bustle of the city and work.

I have used similar methods to my most recent recordings, layers of long loops of sounds that drift over each other. There are synths, guitars and field recordings all blended together as well as heavy use of granular synths and sampling. I will use anything that will produce a sound that fits (you'll hear a dinner plate somewhere in there).

I wanted all frequencies covered from very high ethereal sounds to low, sub-base rumbles.
